FDA approves morning sickness medication
The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved the drug Diclegis used to treat morning sickness in pregnant women, although this is the generic drug of a brand-name drug approved and recalled 30 years ago, according to Reuters. April 9.
Diclegis is produced by Duchesnay (Canada) private pharmaceutical company as a generic drug of Bendectin.

Generic drugs are bioequivalent drugs with special pharmaceuticals, produced after patent expired patent protection.
Bendectin was approved by FDA in 1956 to treat morning sickness in pregnant women. However, there have been many lawsuits that are harmful for children. In 1983, the company recalled Bendectin because of inability to protect itself in court.
Like Bendectin, the drug Diclegis consists of two main components, doxylamine succinate, which is inherent in many anti-allergy drugs and pyroxidine hydrochloride, known as vitamin B6.
Morning sickness affects most pregnant women. Most cases can be controlled with a diet, such as a daily snack or a ginger extract.
However, there are also cases of women with severe morning sickness that require hospitalization and intravenous fluids.
