Finding fossils has the ability to rewrite the entire history of people
People need a lot of time to invade the whole Earth. But the history of that process is in danger of being completely rewritten just because of a fossil.
Humans have a history that has been around for a long time, but not in the first place we have been in every part of the world. We need a lot of time to move to different continents, and all have been recorded by historians after years of research.
However, recently, a fossil found in San Diego (USA) is "at risk" that we have to rewrite the history of human migration.
Fossils of mastodon.
Specifically, experts from the San Diego Natural History Museum found mastodon 's bones - an elephant with the mammoth elephant family.
These bone tubes date back to 130,000 years, but there are signs that humans have used stones to break bones, in order to absorb nutrients inside. This will not be a problem, if the current history does not state that humans appear here for at least 115,000 years.
Mastodon - the mammal with mammoth living in North America.
According to the current history, the Homo sapien (our modern human race) is still in Africa. Therefore, experts believe that mastodon elephant hunters belong to an unknown lineage.
These people could be Homo erectus, Neanderthals or Denisovans. The recently discovered "Hobbit" race, Homo floresiensis, was initially a candidate, but it was later rejected.
How humans invade the continent is a very difficult question to answer. According to experts, there are two possibilities: or they have crossed the road between East Asia and Alaska, or they have crossed 80km of sea routes to get here.
In fact, mastodon fossils have been found since 1992, but it wasn't until 2011 that the new technology allowed us to accurately predict the age of these bones. And it is not until 2017 that experts publish research.
"It takes 22 years to connect the pieces together. And now the picture it brings can change everything" - Steve Holen from the Denver Museum of Natural Science.
Journey to find great fossils
When the fossil was found, experts from the museum simply thought it was the body of a mastodon. However, many bones were cracked mysteriously. According to Holen, he made a number of different tests, and gave a very surprising conclusion:
"There is no geographical phenomenon, or any animal that is capable of creating such cracks, except for human hammer."
According to experts, the possibility of prehistoric people crossed the road connecting East Asia and Alaska to North America.
Moreover, when examining the rocks around the fossil: "Traces from the surrounding rocks indicate that they are used as hammers " - experts from the museum said.
So it can be said, this is a finding that can change human history. Who are they - those who have sacked North America -? Could it be that the North American generation was very early, but not successful?
Many pretty stones are used as hammers.
Professor Erella Hovers, an archaeologist at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, said this was a shocking finding."This finding shows that humans have appeared in the New World (another name for the Americas) 100,000 years earlier than they already know."
"But what happened after that? The answer takes more time to collect more evidence" - Hover shared.
