Lead researcher Dr. Lisa Smithers of Adelaide University and colleagues analyzed data from more than 13,800 full-term babies.

The study published in Pediatrics showed that children whose weight increased by 40% compared to birth in the first four weeks had an IQ of 1.5 points higher than when they were 6 years old, compared to Children who weigh only 15%.

'The first round is an indicator of brain mass, so the head ring in the newborn increases, showing that the brain grows faster. In general, the faster an infant grows in the first four weeks, the higher the IQ will be later , 'Smithers said.

Research shows that the children with the largest increase in head circumference also have the highest IQ.
