Floating buildings 'floating' of the future
Floating construction seems to be the most effective solution for the future with a population of over 7 billion people on the planet, mass migrations to cities and increasing flood risks.
Here are some "prepared" living places for our future:
1. Building Seascraper
The Seascraper building includes modern housing, offices, hotels and entertainment centers, which are designed by American engineers with the ability to self-supply power entirely thanks to clean energy sources.
The main energy source of this floating building is supplied from the electricity generation system thanks to deep ocean currents. In addition, most of the building's enclosures are fitted with solar panels to provide clean energy for the building. Meanwhile, the water supply system for the building is taken from the rainwater storage tank and the clean water system is treated from the waste water from the building, forming a complete closed loop.
2. Center for handling garbage floating in the sea
The Plastic Fish Tower project of Korean architects designed with giant circular structures floating on the ocean surface in the giant Pacific Garbage Island will collect and recycle plastic for energy.
The central part of the spherical structure is used as a plastic waste treatment site collected from the ocean. The outer and floating parts of the spherical structure will be used as residential areas. Energy sources for residential areas are provided from plastic waste treatment plants.
3. Waterscraper building
With a stabilizing circle and a transparent floating dome shaped tower structure, the Waterscraper building, including the beach, restaurant, marina, diving center and hotel will be a place to live. Ideal for future residents. The transparent dome structure helps the building save energy thanks to daylight.
The model, like the Waterscraper, is also considered a solution to the overwhelming population pressure in major cities on Earth. According to the United Nations' social and economic affairs body, about half of the world's population lives in cities.
4. Greenstar Building
Expected to be completed in 2014, the Greenstar project will be a 800-seat, 800-room luxury hotel and conference center off the Maldives in the Indian Ocean. Buildings like this would be the solution to the Maldives - the island nation with the lowest terrain in the world - dealing with the risk of being submerged due to sea level rise.
5. Floating jetty
With an area of about 490,000m 2 , floating jetty can welcome 3 ocean cruise ships at the same time. The wharf system including hotels, shopping centers and restaurants will help tourists have new experiences in the ocean.
About 10% of the roof of the floating port structure is installed with solar panels to power the internal structures. In addition, the wharf is also designed with the ability to make the most of daylight to save energy.
