Flooding, landslides raging in Southwest China

Today (May 25), heavy rains continue to rage in southwestern China causing floods and landslides that killed 21 people and injured 11 others. Storms continued in Sichuan province on May 23 and 24, killing 11 people, leaving five people in Ganzi and Liangshan areas missing. In Ganzi, the landslide also damaged the section of highway No. 215 over 300 meters long.

Earlier this week, lightning struck the classroom at Chongqing also killed 7 students.

Prolonged heavy rains have affected the lives of 2.3 million people, leaving 112,000 people evacuated from their homes. Authorities in Sichuan and Chongqing are currently taking relief measures and looking for missing people.
