Floods continue to threaten the Central

Not recovering after the historic flood in early October, two days from provinces of Nghe An to Quang Nam have heavy rains, floods of rivers are rising. On the way home from school, a 9th grade student in Ha Tinh was killed by the flood.

Influence of cold air, provinces from Nghe An to Quang Nam had heavy rain, popular 100-150 mm, particularly from Ha Tinh to Quang Nam 150-200 mm. Floods of rivers are at alarming level 1, Kien Giang River at Le Thuy (Quang Binh) alarms 2.

Ha Tinh Center for Flood and Storm Control said that on the morning of October 15, Doan Quy Dong, a 9th grader in Son Thuy commune (Huong Son), was swept away by the road.

In the afternoon of the same day, fishing boats controlled by Mr. Truong Van Tuyen and 5 crew members from Cam Xuyen district on the way to Cua Hoi port (Nghe An) avoided the rough sea and died. Fishing vessels are floating freely, rescuers have not yet reached the ship due to big waves and high winds.

Floods also made 5 communes of Huong Son district including Son Phuc, Son Mai, Son Thuy, Son Tien, Son Ham isolated, 15 other communes flooded locally. Highway 8A through Tay Son town has also been divided by flood water .

In Nghe An and Quang Binh provinces, flooding has caused local flooding for many residential areas. Many new capital roads have been temporarily overcome after the historic flood in early October and flooded again.

Meanwhile, according to the Central Center for Meteorological and Hydrological Forecasting, due to the impact of cold air, the North and Central Central continue to have heavy rain, the flood of rivers from Nghe An to Quang Nam will rise quickly.

Tonight and early in the morning of October 16, flooding of rivers in Quang Binh and Thua Thien Hue is likely to alert 3, the most dangerous level, the rivers in Ha Tinh, Quang Tri and Quang Nam are on alert 2.

" People need to prevent flash floods, landslides in mountainous areas, deep inundation in low-lying areas, downstream rivers from Quang Binh to Quang Nam, " the Meteorological Center warns.

Previously, from October 1 to October 5, the provinces from Nghe An to Thua Thien - Hue had very heavy rain, in Quang Binh with 1,600 mm of rain. The whole area is heavily flooded, many areas are deeply submerged to the roof. Rescuers must use helicopters to transfer instant noodles, drinking water to the people.

Floods have claimed 66 lives, leaving 18 people missing, estimated physical damage of 2,750 billion VND. In particular, there are 45 deaths in Quang Binh, 16 missing and 1,580 billion VND damage; Ha Tinh has 12 deaths and losses of VND 845 billion.
