This information was published recently in the Polish Journal of Ornithology.

The bird previously unknown to the passerine scientist , called Resoviyaornis Yamrozy , was named after the city of Rzeszow, which is Latin for Resoviya, and Yamrozy is called by the family name of the paleontologist Albin. Yamroza, who discovered the fossil of this bird on the edge of a small stream near the city of Rzeszow.

Hypothetically, this bird was drowned in the ocean that in ancient times covered the southeastern part of Poland today. Scientists believe that Resoviyaornis Yamrozy has lived on Earth at the end of the Paleogene period (also known as the Ancient Era) - The Oligocene (also known as Thế Tiệm Tân), about 38 to 25 million ago. year.

Scientist of the Institute of Systematization and Evolution of the Polish Academy of Sciences Zbigniew Bochensky said the Resoviyaornis Yamrozy bird is about the size of a sparrow with long legs, indicating that the bird lives on the ground a lot. rather than flying. The beak shape also shows that the bird eats insects and berries.

So far, Resoviyaornis Yamrozy is the third bird from the Olsocene Oligocene World, discovered by scientists.

Researcher Bochensky stressed that the discovery by Polish scientists is a valuable information about the first evolutionary stages of the pass, now the most diverse set of species on Earth. For every 10,000 individual birds, there are nearly 5,400 passers.
