A research team has just announced the discovery of the yellow city missing in the Central American jungle, thanks to laser mapping technology.
Beneath the primeval forest in Honduras' Mosquitia region, archaeologists have found traces of ruins they consider the city missing Ciudad Blanca , or White City , according to Fox Station. Legend has it that White City is full of gold, or rather, it is made of gold, from columns, tiles in the house outside the door are all precious metal colors. Along with El Dorado, Ciudad Blanca are two Central American myths that haunt historians and entice many adventurers into a dangerous hunt for nearly 500 years.
One of the most notorious gold hunters of the early days was colonialist Hernando Cortes, serving the Spanish dynasty in the mission of colonizing the Americas, in the early 1500s. History also retains the letter to Count Cortes sent to King Charles V in 1526, which mentioned the existence of a rich city.

In order to overcome the failure of more than five centuries by countless explorers, the University of Houston expert team and the National Center for Laser Mapping (LiDAR) have used quite a different method. especially compared to conventional digging. They sent a few Cessna 2-type small planes to move on suspicious areas and used a generator to fire billions of laser beams at the ground below. The collected data is processed by the computer and made into the architectural map of the land on the 3D platform hidden under thick layers of leaves.
This is not the first time experts rely on LiDAR technology to identify ancient ruins. The original goal of this technology was to provide information on the lands after a severe earthquake, or military reconnaissance. LiDAR works by shooting 100,000 shortwave lasers every second to the target land. US experts used more than 4 billion lasers during the ambitious project, with 25 to 50 lasers per square meter of land.

After analyzing the map, experts discovered bumpy changes on the ground due to the impact of human hands. They were even more surprised to see that this might be the rest of an ancient city, with scattered pyramids that had long been invaded by green forests. Each book noted that Ciudad Blanca is the city of Quetzalcoatl, the golden spirit of the Aztec civilization.
However, there has never been a real evidence of the existence of this city in history. If confirmed, the discovery of Ciudad Blanca could be a fire that triggered the hunt for another legendary city, 'Lost City of Gold' , ie El Dorado, which was previously animated by Walt Disney. While Honduras President Porfirio Lobo applauded that exciting news, archaeologists' next work was to organize the journey through the forest to reach the ruins, according to The Los Angeles Times newspaper. .
