Found the remains of 2 ancient female warriors in Mongolia

The two women are said to live in the 4,5 th century, the time of political instability and the setting of the legend of the famous Mulan character in Chinese history.

Lead researcher, archaeologist Christine Lee from California State University, Los Angeles, said that these women are quite healthy because in the time they lived, women had to stand side by side with men to protect the house. door and country.

Lee has worked in China and Mongolia for the past 16 years. She discovered the remains of two female warriors during an excavation of a cemetery at the archaeological site of Airagiin Gozgor in Orkhon province, northern Mongolia.

Over the past four years, Lee and his colleagues have analyzed nearly 30 remains in the area and found traces that show they regularly ride horses, archery and suffer many injuries.

While the remains of men show signs of archery and horse riding, some women either archery or horse riding, the two female warriors show signs of both.

"They are doing what men do. Therefore there may be gender equality here," Lee said.

Of the 2 female warriors, one was about 20 years old and the other was around 50 years old. Lee believes they may have practiced archery and horseback riding because these skills were necessary for the period of political instability.

"No one has shown signs of war injury. This could be that noble people are not involved in fighting in wars," Lee said.
