Facing the booming online shopping trend, Stéphane Ruhlmann, who founded the ventepriveedunet.fr sales website, said that before an online information forest, consumers would easily "get lost" otherwise get good information. Currently, 60% of consumers in France claim they believe in online shopping channels because in addition to cheaper stores, online shopping also gives them many other conveniences. According to the French Federation of Remote Trade, the country's e-commerce sales will reach 21 billion euros in 2008, double its 2006 sales.
