According to Professor, Nguyen Nang An, Chairman of Hen Association, allergy and clinical immunity, asthma is a burden for society due to higher treatment costs than TB and HIV / AIDS combined. The average cost for direct treatment such as medicine, tests, hospital fees . is over 300 USD per person per year. That is not to mention the damage caused by the patients having to take time off from work, school holidays, reducing labor productivity during the treatment period.

Vietnam has more than 4 million people with asthma, accounting for 5% of the population. If the treatment is properly indicated, a good control rate for living is almost normal at 85%. However, in Vietnam, the proportion of well-controlled asthma patients accounts for only 5%, each year about 3,000 people die from this disease (Professor An An said that the actual number is much higher). The main reason is the subjectivity of the patients, often stop taking the drug when symptoms improve, making the disease worse.

Professor An advises people with this disease to join Hen clubs to exchange experience and knowledge, and to be "wired up" regularly for adherence to treatment. The Hanoi Hen Club now attracts more than 300 patients. After 2 years of treatment, over 90% have progressed well.

People with asthma or interested in this disease can call the phone number 04.9438933 for free advice. Consultation time is 8-20 hours daily (except Saturday, Sunday, holidays).
