Unlike normal apples that wilt for a few days, RS103-130 apples can keep crispness, freshness up to 14 days and even months if kept in a refrigerator.

According to Dr. Simon Middleton of the Research Center for Apples, RS103-130, which is resistant to natural diseases, there is no need to use chemical drugs and preservatives. This variety of apples achieving such a long life is not due to genetic engineering. The disease resistance characteristics of RS103-130 originate from a gene in wild apples in Asia.

In terms of taste, this new generation of apples is considered superior, rather than the Pink Lady which is very popular in the UK. Currently, the Queensland government is looking for a trading partner to bring this long, fresh apple to the market.
