From 1-8: Germany enforces a ban on smoking

On August 1, the smoking ban in public agencies began to take effect in three of the 16 states in Germany. This ban will gradually expand to the whole of Germany. Those who violate the smoking ban will be fined 1,000 euros.

As a rule enforced on August 1, 2007, Baden-Wuerttemberg states (southwest), Lower Saxony (north) and Mecklenburg-West Pomerania (northeast) will enforce the ban on smoking in homes. goods, bars, hospitals, schools and public agencies.

The Mecklenburg-West Pomerania state's restaurant area will apply the ban from January 2008.

In the past, German law was considered very tolerant of tobacco. According to statistics in 2006, Germany has 16.7 million smokers among 82.3 million people. In addition, the German government also enforces the removal of a driver's license for at least two years for drivers with alcohol concentrations while driving.
