The project to build a smart city in the state of Mexico will start on June 30.

Although there are no people, the houses will still be equipped with toilets and washing machines. Scientists will conduct research on new energy, intelligent transportation systems and next-generation wireless networks. In addition, automatic washing machines, self-flushing toilets, self-driving cars will also be tested here.

With the new city, researchers can test the effects of new technology without worrying about side effects for people.

'The only thing we don't do is to do destructive tests, like blasting things,' said Bob Brumley, Pegasus Holdings chief executive.

Wild cities are not popular in the US. Many deserted cities in the United States had people, but they left them after an important industry for them disappeared. This is the first time a deserted city has been built.

Sam Cobb, mayor of Hobbs, welcomed the smart city construction project.'It will create many opportunities and make the world pay attention to our city , ' he said.
