According to experts, this species has the scientific name Carnufex carolinensis, the ancestor of crocodiles today . They are 2.7 m tall , walking on their hind legs. About 230 million years ago , Carnufex lived in a warm and humid environment in the US state of North Carolina today.

Carnufex has a long, sharp and sharp skull like a knife . They often eat prey that are reptiles and mammals. According to paleontologist Lindsay Zanno of North Carolina State University, this large creature is one of the ancient reptile groups (crocodylomorph) on Earth.

" We do not think about how many different carnivores in the Triassic period, and did not know that alligators actually dominated the dinosaurs," Live Science quoted Zanno as saying.

Before that, she and her colleagues discovered bone fragments when studying in Pekin area, in the Chatham district of North Carolina. The sediment here was deposited 231 million years ago in the late Triassic period. Around the equator area at that time, dinosaurs were not supposed to appear. The absence of dinosaurs may have created opportunities for predators like Carnufex.
