Google and the project to organize the bookstore online

Picture 1 of Google and the project to organize the bookstore online Google Search Book is a building project that aims to help Internet residents find the titles they need quickly. The project is rated 'community-based', however, it is not that Google does not benefit from it.

You can use this function at http://books.google.com , and need to register for a Google or Gmail account to use. Right from the first line when referring to this project, Google has affirmed that this is a project to organize a library of online books, enabling users to find the desired book quickly.

The overall interface is like Google Search, but in search results, you will see a small icon image to the left of the search results. This image represents some basic information about that book. When clicking on a 'book', depending on the situation you will get the corresponding results.

If it's a free book, you'll be able to browse from start to finish (Full View). If it is a copyrighted book, depending on the author or publisher, you will be able to see some pages (Limited Preview) or just a few excerpts (Snippet View). If not, you also have basic information about books such as author names, publishers, technical issues, etc.

Once you find a book, the following functions you can do with Google Search Book. The first is to review the content of the book, of course, under the permission of the publisher or author. You can also search within the content of the book.

From a book page, you can link to find the most general information about books at other sites. You also know where you can buy this book or which library it is. Information about publishers or authors is also listed. You can also find titles with the author or with the publisher.

Getting promotions for titles is also a business program in Google Search Books. The Google Books Partner program allows members to see the Partner of Google Search Books implementing online book promotion campaigns.

There is still controversy about copyright rights around this project. Some people think that this will reduce the amount of books sold in the market because users can choose more accurately the title to buy, or they will not buy books that only need to reference to a paragraph in it. Books that have passed the copyright term, will be uploaded in the full text are also controversial, because of that, no one will spend money to buy real books (hard-core) anymore.

Google works with many libraries of universities around the world for this project, including Harvard, Oxford, Stanford, The University of Michigan and most recently The University of California. with more than 34 million titles in the school's library system.
