According to the latest survey of Internet research company Netcraft, as of October, Google is operating about 10.5 million websites, an increase of 411,000 websites compared to September.

Netcraft's survey aims to find out which web server software is 'mastering' the web world. Two programs for the server, Apache and Microsoft Internet Information Services, still show their power, but Google also appears to be no less competitive.

Google's server software is chasing Apache and Microsoft Internet Information Services

Netcraft identified 182 million websites, including 10.5 million websites using Google software. Apache manages 91.5 million pages and Microsoft Internet Information Services is responsible for 62.8 million sites.

According to the survey results, Google currently accounts for 5.7% of the market, but this rate has increased to 10.6% when Netcraft conducts 'measuring' active websites - quite a few domains have been created. but no content and no activity.

Google does not comment on this 'potential' but said: 'The Google server system is a custom platform running on the Linux open source operating system.'
