Google 'wireless coverage' across Silicon Valley
The free wireless Internet service in Silicon Valley, California, where Google is headquartered, was officially used on August 16, after 9 months of testing.
Google was chosen by the City of San Francisco to install and operate a similar service here with its partner EarthLink.
These two companies are in agreement with the City of San Francisco on contract terms.
The Board of Google believes that Google is involved in this effort by San Francisco and Silicon Valley in order to assert the power to compete in providing Internet access and building systems that allow Google to test New business ideas.
