Graveyard for children more than 2,000 years in ancient China

The burial ground of 107 sets of first-century children's remains found in the ancient citadel of Huanghua Town, Hebei Province, China.

Excavated archaeological group was estimated by 113 tombs over 2,000 years old in the town of Hoang Hoa, Hebei Province, China, Xinhua on October 7 reported.

Truong Bao Cuong, who is in charge of Hoang Hoa Town Museum, said they found 107 sets of child remains here.

"The changes of rivers and other environmental factors over the past 2,000 years have destroyed many graves. In addition, through the survey, we discovered more traces within 150m to the south. may be the location of the larger cemetery with a larger area, " Truong said.

Many items made from ceramics from the Warring States period (485-221 BC) are also found here.

"The town of Hoang Hoa was once thought to be a stronghold for military defense, but finding a burial site for children can change this conclusion," Truong said.

"This finding will also help us study the burial practices and planning of the old city," said the Deputy Director of the Institute of Archeology at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.
