From the laser-controlled rice field leveling machine transferred by the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), scientists of the Center for Energy and Agricultural Machinery - Nong Lam University of Ho Chi Minh City have studied and improved. accordingly in Vietnam.

On this basis, the product has been technically transferred and promoted widely.

In May 2005, at Bac Lieu Agricultural Breeding Center. A land plot of 2.7 ha (Lot 4), the difference of the initial elevation of 220mm has been reduced to only 26mm across this plot after 53 hours (not to mention about 3 hours of plowing high land to ease the leveling).

This is the first result of the Center for Energy and Agricultural Machinery application of laser-controlled rice-field leveling machines transferred to Vietnam by the International Rice Research Institute for flattening 12 ha of rice land. in this area of Bac Lieu.

Mr. Tran Van Khanh, Deputy Director of the Center for Energy and Agricultural Machinery, Ho Chi Minh City University of Agriculture and Forestry, said: The scientists of the Center have built a sanitizer associated with MTZ-892 tractor (110 horses). ) can handle difficult terrain.

The Center collaborated with agencies to quickly disseminate this technical progress to production, helping farmers to use the product.

The breakthrough of the agricultural industry

Mr. Khanh also said: After 3 years of doing research in parallel with technology transfer, the group has obtained quite satisfactory results.

In which, the Center must coordinate with the Plant Protection Department - Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Plant Protection Department of An Giang province to use the above equipment to conduct demonstration programs on '3 reduction programs, 3 increase 'in Chau Thanh district.

Results compared to the control showed that rice on flattened plots yielded 1.5 tons / ha higher (8.4 tons versus 6.9 tons / ha), and reduced production costs, in Then the weeding labor decreased from 6 million to 4 million VND / ha, the amount of diesel used for water pumping decreased from 80 liters to 30 liters / ha.

At Lam Ha Breeding Farm (Tan Van commune, Lam Ha district, Lam Dong province) belongs to Southern Seed Joint Stock Company with an area of 28.6 ha, due to steep hill terrain, there should be relatively flat plots, This place must allocate nearly 300 lots to produce vegetable and rice seeds . The company has applied the advantages of leveling control by flattening laser and forming a new parcel with an average area of 4,000m2 / lot.

Especially in addition to the advantages that IRRI has previously drawn, when creating flat surfaces, many professionals and farmers also add other advantages when combining appropriate irrigation measures such as easy to kill snails. yellow, hoppers prevention; standing rice, less falling .

With the positive in dissemination and application in Vietnam, IRRI recently signed a contract with the Center to support and transfer laser leveling and leveling techniques to Laos. Technical transfer training course was conducted in April 2008 at Thasano Seed Research Center, Savanakhet province, Laos. So far, the Lao side has been able to control its products by itself, 10 hectares .

According to Mr. Tran Van Khanh, due to difficulties in importing equipment, farmers cannot easily buy equipment.

In 2008, the Center cooperated with a company importing equipment. Hopefully in the near future, Vietnamese farmers can buy these devices to use with appropriate after-sales policies.

Currently, the price of a set of tractors and equipment including MTZ 892 tractor (110 horsepower; 4 active wheels; imported from Belarus), laser control equipment and bucket bucket is VND 540 million (monthly price August 2008).
