He closed 511 government websites
Hundreds of British government websites have been decommissioned to 'facilitate easier access to information' for everyone.
Of the 951 websites managed by the British government, only 26 were allowed to continue to operate, 511 were completely closed and the rest were at risk of following the 511 websites.
British Prime Minister Tony Blair is "surfing" the web
In the future, government information will be updated through two main sites: Directgov and Business Link.
Cabinet member Pat McFadden affirmed that this is a "strong measure" necessary for the development of government websites. Officials think that people will like to find what they need faster and easier than to "grope" in large numbers of websites like before.
About £ 9 million a year is the estimated savings through cutting down 'frivolous' pages that do not serve useful purposes.
Some information from sites that are closed will be transferred to Directgov, for individual sites, and Business Link, or for other sites.
