He: Downloading movies, unauthorized music will be disconnected
Internet users in the UK who illegally download movies or music online will be banned from using the Internet. It was one of the draft of the British government recently revealed by the Times on February 12.
Under the plan, the government will issue an order requiring Internet service providers (ISPs) to strictly prevent illegal file sharing. Recording companies and film studios said they lost billions of dollars each year due to illegal sharing of movies and music.
Details of the draft will be announced next week. Currently the draft is in the process of converting into law.
The Times said the plan would use a three-step mechanism. First users will receive the first alert email if they are found to download unauthorized movies or music. Next, users will be suspended Internet service ISP if the second violation. And for the third time, the user will be disconnected from the Internet contract.
