MRO Software is a company specializing in software to monitor the location and operation of all types of equipment such as aircraft, ships, cars, trucks .

IBM is currently pursuing a strategy to apply more technology to its global service group worth $ 47 billion a year. The acquisition of MRO Software means that some of IBM's product manufacturing processes will be automated by software to increase efficiency, profitability and quality.

" We want to adopt a more cyclical production line solution in providing customer service products ," said Kristof Kloeckner, IBM's vice president of strategy and technology.

Analysts estimate the acquisition of MRO Software is a step forward to achieve the IBM goal.

Software business brings IBM revenue of about $ 15.8 billion a year. MRO has been the 37th company acquired by IBM since 2001. Most of IBM's sales in the past have helped it consolidate its software business.

On Wednesday, IBM also acquired a private software company Webify Solutions to integrate technology that enables different enterprise applications to communicate and share data.
