Identify two forms of autism

Scientists have stated that they have identified two different biological forms of autism.

In it, one is related to the abnormalities of the brain. Accordingly, children with autism of this type have large brains and often develop disease around 18 months of age. Children with the second type have an immune system that is not working properly.

The team compared this result with a similar finding in the 1960s about different forms of cancer. They hope to help find a way to develop effective treatments for autism from here.

'It is hopeless if we try to treat all cancers at the same time. And this is also true for autism , "said David Amaral, professor of psychiatry at the University of California Davis.

Scientists have identified two different forms of autism.

'When a child enters the clinic, instead of generally saying that he has autism, you can make a clear diagnosis of the child with autism type A, type B, or type C', Amaral to speak. Since then, researchers will know and apply the best treatment for this condition, he said.

'For example, if a child has an immune form of autism, what we should do is control that immune system rather than trying to create something that relates to linkage functions. Amaral adds, " synapses in the brain."

The research team will present their findings at Perth's Asia Pacific Autism Conference.

Amaral and colleagues began to study autism in 2006. They analyzed various factors that led to autism, including brain growth, genetics and environmental influences in children 2 -3 years old.

In addition to the two identified categories, scientists hope to find more forms of the disease.
