IE, Firefox 'cross-apple' security error
Security firm Secunia has released a warning message about a new deadly security vulnerability in open source Firefox browser.
Initially security expert Thor Larholm said that the security vulnerability mentioned above belongs to Microsoft's Internet Explorer browser rather than Firefox. However, further studies have shown the opposite result.
Secunia said the security vulnerability is derived from the handling function URI " firefoxurl: // ". This error can be exploited to control Firefox to execute certain binary commands.
Especially on a system with both Internet Explorer and Firefox installed, the likelihood of being attacked can still occur. When an IE user accesses a malicious website the URI handler function parameters can still be automatically switched to run on Firefox without any user intervention.
Secunia confirmed that Firefox 2.0.0.4 is fully installed with the patches and still has a URI error. Other versions may also make mistakes.
