Machli, the tiger that was dubbed the Queen of Ranthambore Park, India, died at the age of 19.
BBC yesterday reported that Machli is one of the most photographed tigers in the world.It has fish-shaped stripes in the left half of the face.Its Machli name also means "fish" in Hindi.Machli has appeared in many documentaries and amazed viewers by dueling the crocodile 4.3m long.(Photo: Sandhip Sharma).
The female tiger attracts thousands of visitors to Ranthambore National Park each year.Machli died in a posture, returning to a nearby park boundary in northern Rajasthan state.According to the authorities, the tiger did not eat anything for many days.(Photo: Sandeep Mal) l.
"We are trying to cure but it is dead," said Yogesh Kumar Sahu, Ranthambore tiger project director. "It is a natural death associated with age."(Photo: BBC).
