The Tuyen Nha Nguyet is located in a desert near Dunhuang City, Gansu Province, China. This semicircular lake is thought to have appeared 2,000 years ago.
The lake is 218m long and 54m wide. The water level in the lake ranged over the years, from 7.5 m 50 years ago to 0.9 m in the early 1990s. In 2006, local authorities added more water to the lake.
The oasis is located on the ancient Silk Road and is now a tourist attraction in China.

The oasis is surrounded by towering sand dunes in the Gobi desert.
