Intel continues to reduce the price of quad-core chips
Intel is expected to launch a price cut on its quad-core chips for desktop PCs and servers before rival AMD releases its quad-core Barcelona chip.
The focus of the previous price reduction was the quad-core processor chip for desktop PCs - Q6600 chip. Currently, the price of this chip stands at 530 USD. The original price of this chip in February was $ 851.
Quad core chip Q6600 continues to be the focus of the upcoming discount. It is expected that after this price cut, the price of Q6600 will only be about 266 USD.
Also in the discounted price here is the QX6700 chip. By the end of July, the price of this chip will be only about 530 USD.
The price of quad-core chips for Xeon DP servers also enjoys a higher discount. The price of Xeon DP X5355 chip will be reduced from 1172 USD to 744 USD. The Xeon XP E5355 chip will only be sold for $ 316. Two energy saving chips Xeon DP L5320 and L5310 are down to 320 USD and 273 USD.
Last week, AMD has announced plans to launch new processor chips for new desktop PCs in the near future. Accordingly, the company's quad-core chips will carry a completely new name Pherom that supports dual socket configuration. Some chips are expected to be released before Christmas this year.
