Intel tested 45-nm Penryn chip
Intel executives said the company is currently providing a prototype of the Penryn processor chip for servers for computer manufacturers. Products will officially launch in the fourth quarter of this year.
Meanwhile, interviewing PC World over the phone, said John Antone, Intel's vice president and general manager for the Asia-Pacific region. " We are working on testing Penryn chips for all." product line '.
Penryn is the codename given to the microprocessor chip manufactured on Intel's latest 45-nanometer technology platform. The server version will be marketed first. Next to the mobile version and desktop PC version.
So far Intel has not announced the exact time the Penryn chip will be available, but only said it will be available sometime in the fourth quarter of this year. Intel hopes the Penryn chip will continue to put pressure on competitors AMD.
Following that plan, Intel's Penryn chips still outperformed AMD's quad-core processor chips. The previous plan was that the Barcelona chip would be available sometime in the middle of this year, but then AMD had delayed its plan to launch this August. This is one of the strategic cards expected by AMD to help it regain lost market shares.
