Investigators of about 15 people from the National Traffic Safety Agency (NTSB) will travel to the Mojave desert area, 150km north of Los Angeles, in about a week, however the analysis of data from Experimental spacecraft will take more time.

According to Christopher Hart, head of NTSB, the investigation at the accident site will take 4-7 days. Meanwhile, investigation can be completed in about 12 months.
Hart said because this is a test flight, the data is stored more than regular flights. 6 ship-named cameras can provide important data and evidence.
Currently, NTSB has not determined the cause of the spacecraft's incident, but the large fragments remaining in the desert indicate the possibility of the ship being destroyed while flying.
SpaceShipTwo (SS2) spacecraft fell into the desert during a test flight on October 31, killing the pilot Michael Alsbury. Peter Siebold is the survivor of the accident. He regained consciousness, could talk to the doctor and family. Both pilots in this flight are experienced flyers.
