IPTD technology to treat dioxin in Da Nang airport

The dioxin disposal process at Da Nang Airport will include excavated soil and contaminated mud on a total area of more than 191,400m 2 , with about 72,900m3 of land. Then the soil will be transferred in a storage structure constructed at the site and treated with heat-removal technology in the pile (IPTD) for cleaning. IPTD pile location is built in clean land with a width of about 70m, 6-8m high and 90-105m long depending on the actual excavation volume.
IPTD is an advanced technology applied in the United States, Europe and Asia to clean up hazardous waste dumps and ensure a clean environment for millions of people and for generations to come. This method has been proven to reduce dioxin storage levels to a level equal to or lower than the target set by this Project. The entire cost of the Project including items, construction, excavation and restoration of the environment after the end of the project is estimated at 43 million USD.
From June to September 2011, on the basis of the Project Implementation Agreement between the Ministry of Defense of Vietnam and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the Ministry of Defense conducted clearance of bombs and mines at the airport site. Danang.
At the end of the summer of 2012, participants will construct IPTD abutment structures, make roads to the construction site, perform environmental monitoring and supervision and officially launch the project. From September to December 2012, besides maintaining the construction site during the rainy season, the contractor implemented IPTD to mobilize and import equipment for operation in 2013, it is expected that the project will be completed in 2015.
