This will be the first of its kind in the Islamic Republic as well as throughout the Middle East.

Press TV quoted Hooman Najafi, director of the Sky Party, the festival organizer, said the temporary area called 'this dark park' is 'immune' to the impact of artificial lighting so it would be very convenient for astronomical research and stargazing.

Qeshm Island, where the 'dark park' is located, is also Iran's largest island in the Persian Gulf.

Mr. Najafi said climate conditions in southern Iran ensure an ideal environment for astronomical research activities.

His organization organized the Banquet, Nature and Astronomy Festival at Qeshm last month.

Qeshm Island, near the strategic Strait of Hormuz, is famous for ecotourism sites, according to the Associated Press.
