According to the Associated Press, 10 stingrays have been killed since Irwin's death. Many stingrays were found on Australian beaches, two were found to have lost their tails yesterday.
'Maybe this is a retaliatory act or due to some fears of some people, or a callous act of someone aiming at wildlife', Michael Hornby, executive director of Wildlife Warriors Conservation Group Irwin said. 'We are angry and disappointed with those who have committed acts of harm to wildlife'.
Some of Irwin's fans actually acted as " revenge " of stingrays: they launched an Internet game called Terri Revenge of Irwin (Terri is Irwin's widow's name), with a picture painting her swimming in the water and shooting at the stingrays. However, no one called for revenge on this fish.
Next week, Steve Irwin's official memorial will be held at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane. The stadium can host 52,000 fans of the Crocodile Hunter program, located about an hour from Irwin's zoo.
