Is the giant hole in the Sun really scary?

A clear picture of a black hole in the Sun can make many people fear for the future of our solar system.

A clear picture of a black hole in the Sun can make many people fear for the future of our solar system.

NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) has discovered a particularly large black hole including the northern hemisphere. These holes were discovered using orbital telescopes earlier this month.

Although the Sun shots show a huge black spot that looks scary, that is not the end of the entire solar system, where our Earth exists. Such holes in the sun's atmosphere are a regular feature, the frequency of which depends on the Sun's activity cycle. They are called Coronal holes by scientists, appearing in the halo of this planet.

The other black holes are Coronal holes, which appear when the Sun's magnetic field escapes into the atmosphere

When the Sun's magnetic field escapes into the atmosphere instead of being retained, creating high-speed winds, a solar atmosphere opens so that molecular currents escape; The light here is also dimmed, creating a dark area.

On the other hand, we cannot see the color of this area because they have an ultraviolet wavelength of 193 angstrom - a kind of invisible light with the human eye.

Solar winds can interact with the Earth's magnetic field, creating a geomagnetic storm - a kind of battery-like energy throughout the planet and changing magnetic energy. Magnetic storms also cause aurora in the Antarctic and Arctic Earth.

While creating geomagnetic storms, aurora phenomenon in the Antarctic and Arctic Earth, the solar energy of the Sun does not affect much on the blue planet.

NASA launched the SDO spacecraft in the hope that it will help people understand the causes of the solar energy transformation and its impact on the Earth. The goal of SDO is to determine how the Sun's magnetic field is created and stored, how this stored magnetic energy is converted and dispersed.

Hopefully the results from SDO can give us clues about how the solar wind can affect communications or satellites near Earth.
