Beer is considered an important ingredient in the daily diet of ancient Egypt, which has a special significance in religious rituals and healing in this period.
The study was conducted by scientists at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and the IAA, based on 21 fragments of ceramic pots containing beer and wine jars of different historical periods.
The researchers found yeast in small nano holes of ceramic pots and separated them into six categories by melting yeast in an unfiltered beer. They analyzed the DNA of these yeasts and found them like yeasts isolated from traditional African beers or current beers.
Dr. Ronen Hazan of the Hebrew University said: "The most amazing thing is that the yeast bacteria found have existed in ceramic pots for thousands of years. Thanks to this ancient yeast, we can regenerate. Beer and understand the enjoyment of ancient Philistine and Egyptian beer ".
