Israeli army blocked

Mr. Pavel Rosenfeld, a farmer who lived about 3 km from the Egyptian border, said grasshoppers destroyed 30-40% of his field. According to Rosenfeld, the level of damage of grasshoppers in the future will depend on the wind.

'So I pray that the wind will not continue to blow strongly into Israeli territory , ' he said.

The aircraft sprayed aerial and ground insecticides to destroy grasshoppers before their dewdrops dried out during the day and they could fly.

Miriam Greund, director of the Israeli Ministry of Agriculture's Plant Protection Agency, described it as a medium-sized European herd and said her office had set up a hotline for farmers to call.

'We hope our actions will work,' a pilot participated in a pesticide campaign that spoke on military radio.
