It is possible to know whether a person is cheating or not by listening to their voice
A recent study shows that people can know someone who has an affair by listening to their voice, and women are better at this than men.
There are quite a few signs to check if your lover is cheating on you. You may be suspicious because their behavior has recently changed, or they may simply have a promiscuous affair.
Sometimes, your intuition is probably better than you think. If you have a feeling that someone is an ' unfaithful ' type of person , this may be more complicated than your own lack of confidence or a problem of trust.
According to the study, published in Evolutionary Psychology and mentioned in The Conversation, you probably just need to hear a person's voice to know if they will deceive you.
Researchers have recruited 64 male and 88 undergraduates. These people were asked to listen to 10 male and 10 female voices. Five people in each group noted they had cheated on their lovers in the past or in their current relationship.
All voices in each group belong to people of the same stature and body, who are heterosexual, white, and unmarried but who are in an informal relationship. In other words, they are the same as possible.
The participants in the study were not given any information about the person they would listen to. They only hear the voices of these people, know nothing about that person, and assess whether these people are unfaithful.
By listening to short recordings, participants can judge who is really cheating more capable of deception - and women are better at this than men.
The study authors said: 'We cannot determine exactly which sound characteristics lead to a sense of deception. It is interesting to speculate which assessors used this aspect of the human voice to make these precise assessments because we removed the differences between the groups because of the clearer signals of a Voice can be a motivating factor '.
We can know a lot of things about a person through their voice, but exactly what shows the infidelity is still uncertain.
One possible reason that participants can accurately predict an unfaithful person is that they may have generalized the voice characteristics of ex-lovers they knew were unfaithful. In other words, unfaithful people can use a similar way of speaking, but determining exactly what makes them discovered is still uncertain.
Previous research, as a 2011 study published in Evolutionary Psychology, points out that women consider men with lower voices more likely to be unfaithful, suggesting that they may relate to accent (wearing although the researchers adjusted the tone of a man's voice to try and explain it.
Despite this, another study showed that women prefer men with a deeper voice, especially just before ovulation. It may be related to the biological problem here, as a deeper voice is associated with healthier children.
The researchers concluded that no matter what, this new study shows voice clues that can be used to detect. If the voice of your lover has something that makes you feel uncomfortable, you should also think about it.
The researchers said: 'These findings are extended based on the idea that human voices can be valuable as a fraud detection tool. Only a very small part of the voice information is needed to ensure other people's assessments. '
