Italy announces the design of a vertical landing car

Italian car maker has announced the new design of the new TF-X with a speed of 322km / h, a range of 805km and no need for runways to take off and land.

Vertical lift car

TF-X is a four-seater hybrid vehicle that can be recharged from a motor or recharging station, according to Terrafugia's July 20 press release. The car is small in size, fit in a normal garage and can run on all terrain.

When switched to flight mode , the wings on either side of the vehicle will be extended, the one-megawatt electric motor at the rear will operate and lift the vehicle off the ground. Two helicopter-type propellers will provide thrust if needed and fold themselves when the vehicle is at normal altitude.

The flight will be operated by a computer , so drivers do not have to worry about locating an airplane. Before departure, drivers only need to choose an official landing place and two other backup options.

If the TF-X does not find enough fuel to land in one of the two emergency areas and arrive at the final destination within 30 minutes, the vehicle will not take off. TF-X also does not make a flight if dangerous weather forecasts or intermittent landing zones are interrupted.

Terrafugia claims that the TF-X is safer than driving a modern car .

TF-X will continue to be developed in 8 to 12 years. Terrafugia will test the experimental vehicle at the Wright Brothers wind tunnel at Massachusett Institute of Technology in the United States to measure drag, thrust and thrust while flying.
