On December 21, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) adopted new global standards for smart grid, in which the transmission line system is integrated with the function of transmission of bandwidth information. Narrow (NB-PLC).

ITU also adopted three international information standards through the new generation of narrowband power transmission lines.

These new international standards help to increase cost-effective intelligent transmission grid applications, including automatic information transfer, error diagnosis and positioning, intelligent metering, response to needs demand, energy management, information from the grid to families, advanced charging systems for electric vehicles.

These new NB-PLC information transmitters conform to the different characteristics and dimensions of the world grid.

Standardizing information transmitters will intelligently connect between electrical networks and information networks, supporting efficient use of transmission lines as a means of information transmission.

Information using electric transmission lines takes advantage of the existing line system infrastructure of the current grid, greatly reducing the cost of building and developing information transmission channels.

ITU Hamadoun Touré Secretary General emphasized the adoption of international NB-PLC standards will be the basic foundation to implement strong and intelligent power grid, facilitating NB-PLC deployment on a global scale with Ethernet standard is under the direct control of the national power network operating system and is easy to integrate with information networks based on Internet standards.
