Japan warns of the impact of a potential earthquake

Japanese seismologists warn that a potential earthquake in the west of the country could cause massive tsunamis, affecting the Philippines and other Asian countries.

Associate Professor Harada Tomoya of the University of Tokyo conducted experiments to simulate the possibility of tsunamis affecting countries around Japan after a 9-magnitude earthquake occurred along the Nankai depression in the Pacific Ocean.

Experiments show that tsunamis can spread to the Philippines and Southeast Asian countries within 3-4 hours after an earthquake occurs. In addition, tsunamis will also spread to the coast of China.

According to the above results, a large area in the area could suffer tsunamis of more than 4 meters high. On the Philippine island of Mindanao, tsunamis can reach as high as 8 meters.
