Speaking at a meeting of the Japanese Senate Budget Committee, Mr Abe expressed his desire to resume operations of nuclear reactors when assessed to meet the new safety standards of the Governing Body. Management (NRA).

"I look forward to restarting nuclear reactors that have been confirmed safely by NRA standards," Abe said.

In terms of energy policy, Prime Minister Abe said Japan needs to promote a "responsible" energy policy to prevent threats that could threaten the lives of people and economic activities, Japan Daily Press said.

Abe's statement came a day before the third anniversary of the earthquake and tsunami that led to a serious nuclear leak at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant.

Before this statement, many Japanese people expressed concern and voiced objections. Most Japanese nuclear reactors have been shut down since the March 2011 disaster. However, the possibility of radioactive leakage and radioactive water drifting to the sea or contaminated soil is still a concern for Japanese people as well as some other countries.

The nuclear leak at Fukushima is considered the most serious nuclear disaster in the world since the Chernobyl incident in 1986. Before the March 2011 incident, about 30% of Japan's electricity production was provided by nuclear power plants.
