Jurassic dinosaur vestige found in southwestern China
In March 2019, a hiker stumbled across these footprints in Ca Lac Son National Forest Park, 16km from downtown Chongqing.
After studying, scientists at China University of Geosciences in Beijing and researchers from local geological agencies identified these dinosaur footprints as Kayentapus - often created. by large and medium sized carnivorous dinosaurs during the early Jurassic period.
Kayentapus footprints are often created by medium and large carnivorous dinosaurs.
According to scientists, a total of 46 dinosaur footprints were discovered. This shows that the animals creating these footprints are running at high speed.
Chinese scientists also said Kayentapus footprints were distributed around the world. In North America, these footprints were made up of Dilophosaurus dinosaurs - one of the first large carnivorous dinosaurs in the early Jurassic period and also the famous dinosaur that appeared in the movies. of Hollywood.
In southwest China, the animal that created these footprints could be Jurassic dinosaurs, whose body length was about 5.6 meters and weighed up to 500 kg. This was a large and ferocious dinosaur at the time.
Chinese scientists claim this finding adds to evidence of Kayentapus' existence in China and Asia, which could help people understand more about the distribution and evolution of dinosaurs in the early days of Jura.
The findings were published in late May in the British Journal of Historical Biology.
