The new dinosaur skeleton, scientifically known as Aardonyx Celestae, was found on a farm near Bethlehem in the Free State state, South Africa, dating back to the early Jurassic period, a 7m long, small herbivore. , standing 1.7m high, weighing about 500kg and having a large chest.

Aardonyx Celestae walks mostly with hind legs but can also use all four legs. Scientists think this is an evolution that lacks association.

Australian palaeontologist Adam Yates of Bernard Price Paleontology Research Institute, University of Witwatersrand (South Africa), said: "This is a new species and has a very important position. in dinosaur genealogy " . He said the dinosaur died at about 10 years old, possibly due to drought.

Aardonyx Celestae has many characteristics like other herbivores that are walking on two feet, but also have similar properties to Sauropod dinosaurs (lizard-like legs) or Brontosaurs. This is a large size species and travels on all fours, long neck and tail like whips.
