Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) boarded the space on February 11. Its mission is to collect data about the earth's own star. Scientists want to better understand the phenomenon of the sun's epic explosion because it affects the lives of all species on the planet. They hope to be able to predict the effects that the sun's activity has on the earth. Streams of charged particles from the sun can disrupt telecommunications systems, destroy electrical systems and paralyze artificial satellites.

BBC said, the scientists analyzed the video that SDO sent showed excitement about the image quality.

"When we saw images in the footage, even the most fastidious physicists were admiring," said Lika Guhathakurta, a NASA scientist.

According to BBC, SDO is equipped with 3 cameras to study the physical processes inside, on the surface and in the solar atmosphere. Its cameras have 10 times the resolution of high-definition television cameras. So SDO can detect physical properties on the surface as well as in the atmosphere of the sun. Because cameras record at three different wavelengths, scientists can study the solar atmosphere in layers.
