On March 10, the contest entitled ' National Chess Tournament ' will be launched nationwide.

The purpose of the contest is to create a young playground in the field of information technology (IT), encourage research movement, combine technology and algorithms with a popular and useful application in Vietnam as a game. chess. This is a contest to improve the ability of strategic thinking and creativity of students of University of Technology in particular, and university students in general.

Participants are all people (regardless of age, degree, nationality, place of residence, gender), can be combined into groups, with no restrictions on quantity. The participant (group) will write a chess game program running on a computer (briefly called Chinese chess system). Chess game system of participants will play Chinese chess with other systems to order and compete for prizes. And each group of authors is allowed to have at most one competition program.

Participants can use any hardware (desktop PC, portable PC, large computer, multi-machine, MAC, machine with additional special circuits, specialized machines .). When competing, participants need to bring a computer to the tournament. In the event that the computer is expected to be the main computer that cannot be carried, the player will be allowed to operate the remote computer to participate in the tournament.

When playing, each chess system will have an operator. The operator does not have to be the author himself, but the authorizer. The two programs compete with each other through two controllers and a real chess board in the middle.

Determining win / lose and applying chess rules based on the actual state on the board (not on the operator's computer). The rules of chess are the Chinese Chess Law issued by the Vietnam Flag Federation.

The prize will be conducted at the University of Technology - Hanoi National University. After the launching ceremony on the evening of March 10, attendees will continue to have technology training sessions, quarterly and preliminary rounds, and then to the final round. The total estimated time of the National Chess Tournament is about 7 months (from March to September 2006).
