On June 20, Microsoft provided users with MSN Messenger 8 with some unique new functions. Not to be outdone by its rivals, Yahoo has just launched in 'quietly' Yahoo Messenger 8 trial version aimed at regular users of voice calls (VoIP).

Yahoo Messenger's voice calling capability has been improved a lot in version 8 beta. It seems that Yahoo is determined to overthrow Skype, currently dominating the VoIP market.

Newly added plugins are commercially available such as eBay, Amazon.com . and many other plugins that users can find and install here. This additional function allows users to customize the messaging program that connects to arbitrary websites or services.

Yahoo Messenger 8 Beta also paved the way for a combination of Yahoo Messenger and Yahoo 360 o free blog service . Users will be notified by popups when there is a change from their Yahoo 360 o . This version also supports importing nickname list up to 1000 and sound effects into conversation. The file transfer feature is also upgraded with a capacity of up to 1GB.

However, users were disappointed when both the new Windows Live Messenger and Yahoo Messenger messages were unable to connect with each other as agreed between Microsoft and Yahoo in September last year.

Yahoo Messenger 8.0 Beta and Windows Live Messenger 8.0.0787 can be downloaded for free at the website of Yahoo and Microsoft.
