An American designer created a jacket that blinked when it rained. The Puddlejumper shirt will be on display in France next month.

Designer Elise Co, of Los Angeles-based Aeolab Technologies and Design, said the nylon-lined raincoat would turn rain into an opportunity to perform and play.

The shirt was fitted with water sensors on the back and left arm. The sensors are connected to the luminescent panel in front of the jacket.

When the water touches these sensors, the light shines in the corresponding light, creating the illuminating beam that simulates the falling rain.

Co manually blended the chemicals that make up the electroluminescent panel and attached it to the jacket with silk screen printing, attaching the water sensors to the jacket.

Co said the product is currently only modeled, but in the near future it will be mass produced and marketed.
