Lock 74,000 .eu domain names

The .eu domain management agency (EURid) recently decided to lock out 74,000 .eu domain names because of suspicion of speculators to sell at high prices.

EURid also gave the names of three 'front-end' companies to the buying groups Ovidio Ltd, Fausto Ltd and Gabino Ltd.

By February of this year, even companies that had not registered trademarks had the right to buy this domain name. As a result, more than 300,000 .eu domain names have been sold in just 2 months. By April, .eu became a domain name that anyone could use.

Although it has been declared banned from speculation in the first place, it is common for individuals to buy before the domain name and resell it to exorbitant companies. EURid did not hesitate to block multiple domains that owners could not prove that they belonged to the European community.

EURid said that abuse of the system will lead to a risk of reducing the number of .eu domain names and causing damage to 2 million legal owners of the domain name, while confirming that blocking these domains will not cause What affects the legal owners. However, the agency has not published a list of locked domain names.

A trial will also be opened in October in Brussels to make a final decision on those who are accused of speculation by EURid.
