VNNIC 'decentralized' management of domain names

VNNIC will assign domain name registrars of VNNIC to receive and take care of Vietnamese national domain names .vn.

In addition, VNNIC requires entities with domain names directly registered at VNNIC before November 1, 2006, currently paying annual maintenance fees at VNNIC to transfer to one of the .vn domain registrars first. And after September 30, 2007, the domain names have not yet completed the procedure, Vnnic will transfer compulsory to the registered VNnic registered house. Subjects who do not carry out the conversion within the above-mentioned time limit must comply with Vnnic's designation.

VNNIC explained that this is considered a measure to strengthen the role of State management on Internet resources, clearly defining the function of State management with domain name service activities (receiving and maintaining registration). domain name, update information changes, provide DNS server transfer, .) in accordance with international common practice.

According to the assessment, this change does not cause any impact on customers but also gives customers more incentives when the registrars are businesses.
