The world record for the time being belongs to Frank Dimmock of Thame, Oxfordshire, which was set up in 2008 with a cucumber with a length of 41.25 inches (about 1.04m).

Pearce's 1.19m long cucumber, though broken, however, still has another 42-inch melon, about 2 inches longer than the cucumber currently holding a record of 2cm. .

Pearce invited Guinness officials to verify the cucumber in the hope that her achievement would be recognized as a new record. The 78-year-old woman said, " At times, I feel like a cucumber is growing right before my eyes. It's unbelievable ."

" I should have never grown cucumbers, until I knew there was a giant cucumber. My niece contacted the Guinness World Organization, but we still needed a gardener to verify it. However, our family does not know anyone who can do it . "

Pearce planted cucumber seeds in a greenhouse in the backyard of her home in Whittlesey, near Peterborough from May. The melon grew so big, but in August it fell, then turned yellow and caught decomposing head. Although unfortunately, Mrs. Pearce still had to cut the melon into short pieces and then left.
